A Message from Our Founder

Heroes of Hope was born from a simple belief: when people come together with compassion and purpose, amazing things can happen.

For several years, I have had the privilege of volunteering as a Wish Granter with Make-A-Wish Illinois. Walking alongside families during some of the most difficult times in their lives showed me the incredible impact that kindness, generosity, and a caring community can have.

Those experiences inspired me to do even more. I realized there were countless opportunities to bring people together—not only to support children, but also veterans, seniors, families, and local organizations making a difference every day.

That's how Heroes of Hope began.

My vision has always been to build an organization where ordinary people can come together to create extraordinary impact. Every volunteer, sponsor, donor, and community partner becomes part of something bigger than themselves, proving that hope grows when it's shared.

About Heroes of Hope

Our Story

Heroes of Hope was founded on one simple belief: everyone has the ability to make a difference.

What began as a vision to bring people together through kindness has grown into a community-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to creating meaningful change throughout our local communities. We believe that hope is built through compassion, service, and people who are willing to step forward when others need them most.

Our organization was created to connect generous hearts with meaningful opportunities to give back. By partnering with local organizations, businesses, volunteers, and community leaders, we work together to support children, seniors, veterans, families, and community initiatives that need an extra helping hand.

What We Do

Heroes of Hope organizes fundraising events, community outreach projects, volunteer opportunities, and collaborative partnerships that strengthen the communities we serve. Rather than working alone, we believe the greatest impact comes from bringing people and organizations together to accomplish more than any one person could achieve. Whether we're hosting a charity event, supporting a local nonprofit, recognizing veterans, assisting seniors, encouraging children, or responding to emerging community needs, every project is guided by one question:

"How can we make our community a little better today?"

Neighbors Helping Neighbors. Lasting Impact

As a lifelong member of the Sauk Valley community, I've always believed that some of the greatest opportunities to make a difference are found right here at home.

For more than six years, I have had the privilege of serving as both a Wish Granter and Wish Discovery Volunteer with Make-A-Wish Illinois. Walking alongside families during some of life's most challenging moments showed me the incredible power of compassion, generosity, and a community that comes together with a shared purpose. Those experiences changed me and inspired a vision that eventually became Heroes of Hope of the Sauk Valley.

Heroes of Hope was founded on a simple belief:

Our mission is not to replace the incredible organizations already serving our communities, but to strengthen them. We believe the greatest impact comes from working together—bringing people, businesses, and nonprofits together to support meaningful projects that create lasting change.

Our focus is centered on initiatives that benefit veterans, seniors, and local children, helping provide resources, opportunities, and hope where it can make the greatest difference. Through fundraising events, community partnerships, volunteerism, and collaborative projects, we strive to make our community stronger for everyone.

One of the greatest lessons I've learned is that making a difference doesn't require extraordinary wealth, influence, or recognition. It simply requires a willing heart and a commitment to serve others.

Heroes of Hope is built on the belief that when neighbors invest in neighbors, entire communities thrive. Every volunteer, every sponsor, every donor, and every supporter becomes part of something much larger than themselves.

Whether you choose to volunteer your time, attend one of our events, become a community partner, or simply help spread our mission, you are helping build a future where compassion is contagious and hope continues to grow.

Meet Our Secretary

Denise Zinke

Secretary

Denise Zinke has always believed that one of the greatest gifts we can offer is our willingness to help others. Whether it's lending a helping hand, supporting a friend in need, or volunteering within the community, Denise is often among the first to step forward when someone needs assistance.

As Secretary of Heroes of Hope of the Sauk Valley, Denise is committed to helping the organization fulfill its mission of creating lasting impact through community partnerships and initiatives that support veterans, seniors, and local children. She believes that meaningful change happens when neighbors come together with compassion, generosity, and a shared purpose.

Outside of her volunteer work, Denise enjoys spending time in her garden, where she finds peace and joy nurturing the beauty around her. Her greatest happiness, however, comes from spending time with her grandchildren, who continually remind her of the importance of family, love, and leaving the world a little better than we found it.

Denise is proud to be part of Heroes of Hope and looks forward to helping the organization grow while inspiring others to become involved in making a positive difference throughout the Sauk Valley.

Christopher Schueler

Stewarding Our Mission with Integrity.

Christopher Schueler is a proud co-owner of Brother Daryl's Restaurant, where he has built a reputation for hard work, dedication, and serving the Sauk Valley community. Through his business and community involvement, Chris understands the importance of bringing people together and giving back to the place he proudly calls home.

As Treasurer of Heroes of Hope of the Sauk Valley, Chris is committed to ensuring every donation, sponsorship, and fundraising dollar is managed with transparency, accountability, and purpose. He believes that responsible stewardship is essential to earning the trust of the community and maximizing the impact of every contribution.

As a founding board member, Chris shares the vision of strengthening organizations already making a difference rather than reinventing the wheel. He believes that when local businesses, volunteers, and community organizations work together, they can create lasting opportunities for veterans, seniors, and local children throughout the Sauk Valley.

Chris is honored to help build an organization that reflects the generosity and compassion of the community he serves every day. He looks forward to helping Heroes of Hope continue to grow while inspiring others to become part of its mission.
